This is Kathrine Switzer, the first woman to run in the Boston Marathon, at the time a men’s only race. She was not accepted by many. The majority disagreed with her position and her belief.
If it wasn’t for Kathrine the sport of running would not be what it is today. She was bold and her faith changed her environment.
Often Christians have a difficult time sharing their faith – this is a travesty. Sharing your faith is a must – a command from God.
Charles Spurgeon said, “If you really long to save men’s souls, you must tell them a great deal of disagreeable truth”
Today, be the bold Christian that changes people’s lives. Seek people and introduce them to our King, Jesus Christ.
Christianity is not Sunday morning church.
For many Christians the highlight of their walk has been dwindled down to occupying a seat on Sunday morning – this has to change. God does not give us a choice when we become Christians – His command is to GO and pursue people. We are to live an outward life pursuing the hurting, broken, guilt ridden, depressed, lonely, and lost – not an inward life where our faith is hidden. Stepping out of our comfort zone is a key component to our faith. We are faithful even when we are uncomfortable.
Don’t think of Sunday as the culmination of your walk each week. Think of it as the beginning – the springboard into following God and pursuing people… passionately! Be faithful and follow God’s commands. Katherine Switzer was faithful in what she believed in and changed the way people see modern day racing. Imagine what you can do by being bold and sharing your faith. Your faithfulness in sharing Jesus will change lives for eternity.
